My essay/nonfiction article on my friend who owns Om Shan Tea in the Mission is not going to run in ZiP02 – it will be pushed back perhaps to ZiP03 or 04, and may not appear at all, due to the sensitive nature of his legal situation and of the essay’s subject matter. We will assuredly cook up something excellent to take its place, though. An article on tea, combined with the introduction of a Noisebridge workshop or series of classes on tea culture and Chinese tea ceremony, are among the ideas currently percolating. My visit to Om Shan this afternoon was lovely & soothing, & also momentous in that I had not seen my friend (the owner) in 15 years. We conversed on subjects ranging from his favorite tea (it’s a kind of pu’er from the Yunnan province) to earthquakes (we’re both fans) to poetry, the Situationists, David Graeber, Facebook, and the whereabouts of former mutual friends. (I have some new people to track down in the City.) I plan to go back to Om Shan Monday night for Broken Heart Poetry (7 to 10pm).

A pox upon poetry bashers!

Also, I designed a ZiP business card today – JPEG attached. Print quality TIFF is available as well – inquire within.
